\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM' errors

I have a computer this afternoon whose laptop is acting crazy.

He is getting the message " Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \windows\system32\config\system

Here, how I fixed his problem.

1- boot the laptop from a XP CD ROM
2- Press R to repair the Windows® XP installation
3-press 2 c:\windows (the drive I want to fix)
4- type chkdsk /r (it run for 15 minutes)
5- reboot the computer and then VOILA
